In order to facilitate the implementation of the Kigali City Master Plan, improve the organization of the review process for construction permit done through our e-permitting system www.bpmis.gov.rw, we are constantly working on reforms that will make dealing with construction permits fast, easier and less costly to obtain a building permit, especially for small investments.
The City of Kigali published soil test results of 408 villages of Kigali, and this study represents one of the most comprehensive geotechnical investigations undertaken in Kigali City and the acquired information is the base for the foundation and piling designs.
Such data is more helpful as preliminary information for detailed design purposes of a project. From the descriptions of geotechnical behavior, it is possible to identify a number of factors which are present in Kigali and which may be significant in designing foundations.
In order to avail the data on the soil characteristics (Geotechnical studies), the City of Kigali has so far done soil test parameters (Dynamic cone penetration, Sieve analysis and Atterbag limit) of 408 villages of Kigali.
The consultants in construction projects must verify the soil test results available online on these websites: Kigali city website (www.kigalicity.gov.rw) and permitting portal (www.bpmis.gov.rw). The results (web map) are also available from the link below https://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=cea510f68897452089749d855de8411a
In order to have the report containing all information of the entire City, we will continue to test the soils of the remaining villages of Kigali City Masterplan to facilitate our stakeholders. The City of Kigali will continue to make bold and ambitious steps to improve our business environment in dealing with construction permits sector.
