The Mayor of City of Kigali and his Deputies paid a visit at Nyandungu Urban Wetland Eco-Tourism Parkproject which is being implemented by Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) and it is expected to be completed by the end of next year 2020.
In fact, 6% of City of Kigali set aside for recreational spaces on the new Masterplan, it is in that regard that the city leadership paid a site visit to the project of Nyandungu to see what is being done to make it happen within the timeline of completion.
Elements to be part of Nyandungu Urban Wetland Eco-Tourism Parkinclude ornamental ponds, eastern gallery forests, medicinal plant gardens, paved walk ways, restaurants, information center and other recreational services.
After the visit, The City of Kigali Mayor appreciated the work which is being implemented by REMA and said that it is on the Wellbeing of city residents and visitors who come in Kigali.
“These are projects that we believe to contribute to the Wellbeing of our citizens, we need to promote greening of the city by creating public parks and also it is a great part of conservation," he said
Once completed, Nyandungu Urban Wetland Eco-Tourism Parkwill become city’s main public space, accessible and open to all.

Considering that the population of the City of Kigali is expected to grow to 3.8 million by 2050 up from 1.3 million currently, authorities hope that the plan to create more green and recreational parks will help turn the city which is growing fast into a healthy and sustainable habitat
